Your new solid surface countertop is an investment you had made that will provide you with many years of beauty. Simple routine care will help to keep your countertop looking new and fresh.
Routine Care
Caring for you solid surface countertop is as simple as wiping the surface with soap and water. This or an ammonia based cleaner will remove dirt, dust, and most stains or stubborn marks. No specialty cleansers are required!
Preventing Damage
Heat Damage - though solid surface is very resistant to heat, it can be damaged if hot pots or heat generating appliances (such as crock pots or toaster ovens) are placed directly on countertop. Always use a hot plate or a trivet.
Other Damage – avoid exposing the surface to strong chemicals such as paint removers and oven cleaners. If these chemicals do come in contact with the surface, quickly flush with water. Remove nail polish with a non-acetone based nail polish remover.
Removing Stains and Repairing Cuts and Scratches
Nicks, scratches, and cuts are inevitable with any high use product. Though solid surface is solid all the way through, it is easy to repair and renew to it’s original appearance.
Minor damage, including scratches, stains, and burns can be repaired with an abrasive cleanser (such as cream ‘Vim’ or powder ‘Ajax’) and a ScotchBRITE pad. For further damage, light sanding may be required, please contact us for more information.
