Solid surface, better known under brand names such as Corian, Staron, Avonite, Gibralter, Acryflek, and many more can enhance the look of any kitchen, bathroom, or work surface. With solid surface, the design options are endless, you can cut, shape, bend, rout, sand, and laser engrave, into any shape imaginable. Solid surface is also a seamless product so no seams will be visible in your countertop. With endless colour choices it’s easy to find design ideas that will coordinate with your home and look of your kitchen. Not only is solid surface esthetically pleasing, it is also practical. Solid surface is non-porous, therefore it resists stains and is easy to clean. With solid surface, you also have the choice of choosing an integrated sink that creates a smooth, seamless surface that doesn’t allow moisture, dirt, and germs to collect.

In the bathroom, solid surface can be used to fabricate vanities with the option of an integrated sink, shower walls or bases, or bathtub deck surrounds.

  • Solid surface has a high level of heat resistance, however when in contact with continuous heat source (a hot pot out of over, crock pot, electric frying pans, etc.) may cause damage. Always use a trivet or hot pad to protect your counter.


  • Solid surface is uniform, with the colour and pattern running through the thickness of the material. It is non-porous, impermeable, and resistant to staining, Really difficult stains are easily removed with a household abrasive cleaner (Vim or Ajax) and a scouring pad (ScotchBRITE)


  • Solid surface is extremely durable, as well as easy to maintain under the heaviest of usage conditions. It resists chipping, cracking, and shattering.

  • Material comes in ½” thickness, the sheet size is generally 144” x 30”


  • Edges are built up to 1” or 1 ½” thickness for countertops


  • When designing with solid surface, any shape or size is possible due to the seaming process (epoxy/liquid weld) done both in the shop or on site.


  • Some solid surface products are 100% acrylic, and some that are a polyester and acrylic blend.


  • Design options include a different colour edge band or a different colour edge inlay,


  • Solid surface comes with a 10 year limited warranty.


  • Sinks are available in many different models such as single sinks, laundry room sinks, sink and a half, or double sinks.


  • Solid surface has a matte finish, it can be buffed to a high gloss but is not recommended.
