Quartz is available under such brand names as Cambria, Hanstone, DuPont Zodiaq, Silestone, and more. Quartz is a man-made product made up of pure natural quartz and a small portion of resin. It is a newer countertop option and an alternative to the very popular natural stone surface.

Though quartz is a man-made product, it is made of natural quartz so variation in colour, pattern, size, and shape are inherent and unique characteristics to be expected with these products. It is much more consistent than granite and generally slabs are not required to be viewed unlike granite.

Quartz is as strong, if not stronger than granite (however, all stone can be damaged by excessive force or pressure) and is very resistant to heat and scratches. Quartz is a maintenance free product, no sealing or specialty cleansers are required. Quartz surfaces are non-porous and will resist stains.
