Facts About Quartz
- Quartz is characterized by superior strength and durability. It is non-porous and stain resistant. It is extremely resistant to scratches, chips, cracks, and dulling.
- Quartz is not a seamless product and seams are visible, but are very tight. Where the seams are, the pattern and colour can change. Seams are done with a colour matched epoxy.
- Stone surfaces can be damaged by sudden and rapid change of temperature, especially near the edges, as well as direct or sustained heating of the product. Quartz surfaces may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as; electric frying pans, griddles, crock-pots, roaster ovens and heat lamps. Therefore, the use of a hot pad or trivet is always recommended.
- Quartz is available in a wide variety of colours, some more solid and some that resemble the appearance of granite.
- Quartz surfaces (tiles and slabs) have been used commercially for many years, now this same quality is being marketed for residential use.
- It does not have fissures, pitting, and quality issues unlike some natural stones.
- Slab thickness is available in both 2cm (3/4”) and 3 cm (1 ¼”)
